Six policemen were suspended in the poisonous liquor scandal

The Gujarat Home Department on Thursday transferred superintendents of police of Botad and Ahmedabad districts and suspended six other policemen. An official said that this action has been taken after 42 people died due to drinking spurious liquor.

Additional Chief Secretary Raj Kumar told PTI that we have transferred Botad SP Karanraj Vaghela and Ahmedabad SP Virendra Singh Yadav. Six police officers including 2 Deputy SPs, 1 Circle Police Inspector, 1 Police Inspector and 2 Sub-Inspectors have been suspended.

The suspension order issued by Deputy Secretary (Home Department) Nikunj Jani said, “In your jurisdiction of duty area, poisonous chemical liquor was sold and drunk by the people, leading to the death of 42 people, many others are undergoing treatment. If you have failed to prevent the transport, sale and consumption of illicit liquor, it shows dereliction of duty, you have failed to enforce the prohibition policy, and therefore you have been suspended. ,
