RJD's Bahubali MLA from Mokama, Anant Singh, has been sentenced to 10 years in jail by a court for possessing AK-47 and grenade at his ancestral house in Ladma. Anant Singh was found guilty in the case of recovery of AK-47 and grenade from his house. In this case, Anant Singh was sentenced in Patna on Tuesday. After the completion of the hearing of the case on the police claim, Anant Singh was convicted and now the MP-MLA court has given its decision in this case. Mokama MLA Anant Singh is currently lodged in Beur Jail in Patna.
The ongoing case against Anant Singh, who is considered to be the Bahubali MLA of Bihar, was kept in the category of special case by the Bihar government. A Special Public Prosecutor was appointed for the trial against the accused. It should also be mentioned here that the speedy trial of this case was also conducted.
In this case, the Special Public Prosecutor appointed during the hearing had produced 13 policemen in the court, while on the other hand, 33 witnesses were presented by the defense on behalf of Anant Singh. The hearing of both the parties was completed on Monday, after which the court has given its decision.
It is worth noting that in the year 2019, Patna Police had found modern weapons AK 47 rifles, cartridges and hand grenades from Anant Singh's ancestral residence in raids. On this basis, an FIR was lodged at Barh police station on 16 August 2019. In this case, the arguments in the court of police, prosecution and defense have been completed. The investigation of this case was done on behalf of the then ASP of Barh subdivision, Lipi Singh, against MLA Anant Kumar Singh and caretaker Sunil Ram, a charge sheet was filed in the court. After this, the MP-MLA court had framed charges in this case against MLA Anant Singh and the caretaker on 15 October 2020.
